Finding a Nook

"In this sequestered nook how sweet,"
To sit upon my orchard seat
And birds and flowers once more to greet."
... William Wordsworth

Here it is Sunday morning again and it's been another busy week.

Summer time activities with the family while they were on their cottage vacations at the lake.

Fun times at the beach with the little ones playing in the water, building sandcastles with moats and running water and even volcanoes.

Some of the grandchildren are so confident in the water while others were finding their comfort zone and by the end of the week Sawyer was also not so afraid to venture into the lake and was playing "jump" in the waves maybe they were just ripples... summer memories!

This morning I am baking a cake using a new recipe by Paola Westbeek, known as the Queen of French Cuisine for Gateau aux pêches (French Peach Cake), it's in the oven now and the aroma is wafting throughout the house... I'll let you know later how it tastes...

   The cake...it was delicious!

Today I found a nook in our home and spent sometime blogging.

As I was looking through our "Postcard Photos" I found these of different places to sit and relax.

Take your pick which nook you would like to sit in?

Each one will provide a different view and experience.

The stone bench by the babbling brook in Catus

Bench outside a shop in Esplette

A "Bench" with a view of the Atlantic Ocean (Bidart, France) on this day it was Monsieur Honey's pick.

The view from the Table d'Orientation high above Gourdon...

A bleacher seat at Chateau des Milandes...where you might watch the Bird of Prey show and long views over the valley.

An inviting table and chairs outside the jewelry shop in Daglan.

Lakeside seating at the Plan d'eau Dégagnac ...
ready for a picnic of baguettes, cheese, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine!

Or maybe the stone bench in the Gambetta Square, Cahors on a hot day watching the children playing in the fountain.

This storekeeper in Monpazier knows what he's doing ... okay Monsieur Honey you can sit here and people watch while I check out the neat things in this shop.

Maybe some quiet time under the arbor in the medieval garden in Salviac.

Or lounging by the pool at Domaine Gaury...

A table for two on a quiet side street in Sarlat

The park bench overlooking the boules court in Dégagnac

Relaxing bench in the vineyards ... Chateau Monbazillac

  Let's sit here awhile...

Man and his best friend keeping watch in the village of L'Herm.

Maybe a beach chair with a view over the beach and ocean in Biarritz.

Hope you all had a good weekend and found your own little nook!

Sunday Saunter

Dear Family and Friends ...

We have been back home in Canada just over two weeks now.

As you know, it has been a busy time trying to get things in order with the house, yard maintenance and getting back in to a routine plus catching up with all the family.

Much like France, I think "Summer" arrived in Southwestern Ontario without any warning...one day it was still spring like weather and the next the hot, hazy days of Summer were here.

Here in our corner of Canada, since the day we arrived home the summer heat and humidity has been relentless making it difficult somedays to be outside with heat alert warnings and advisories being issued this past week.

So, needless to say I haven't been walking as much as I would like.

Finally, this morning, I have the window open.

The plants and trees are dancing in rhythm with the cool, gentle breezes and to the music of the birds' songs under the  blue and white skies!

Perfect for me to lace up my runners and get walking before it gets too hot again!

Monsieur Honey says "You must find shady places to walk."

So I hope to find some tree lined streets or maybe a shady park where I can walk without my shadow!

Have a great Sunday!
