Morning in Martel ....

09th June 2013

First stop on this "Sunday" drive was Martel in the Lot Department, situated near the Dordogne River.
This town has seven towers.
We ambled the streets viewing the towers, houses and shops and all seem to be built of light coloured stones of varying shades of white to grey with the only colour coming from the roof tiles, coloured doors and shutters and of course the flowers of the season.

A delicious lunch was enjoyed at Le Sans - Lys.... Monsieur Honey chose the lamb.

Our Sunday drive continued after lunch as we headed to Collonges-la-Rouge following this red Deux   Chevaux.

We Didn't See Paris From Here!

Sunday's adventures... a quick visit to Cazals Market where we spotted this customized (chopped and slammed) French Blue "Citroen deux Chevaux".

Next stop Les Arques, where today the village habitants had emptied their attics and were holding a vide-greniers plus offering a "Moules Frites" lunch.
Monsieur Honey made a small purchase ...a piece of marquetry...that he will use in a wood project back home.
He also pondered the purchase of a set of six serving dishes ...for Moules... but decided against them.

The American writer, Michael Sanders spent a year living in the village of Les Arques and his experiences and the village restaurant, La Récréation are the subjects of his book "From Here,You Can't See Paris".
The restaurant is located in a former schoolhouse, and is where we had our first fine dining experience in France ten years ago.

Here you will also find the "Zadkine Museum"

Lunch by the lake in Fraysinnet Le Gelât.

Drive thru the country side and a stop in Villefranche de Perigord for a stroll...

Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses!
