San Miguel Island Tour - Part Two

#timetravelling#greenzonetours#sanmiguelisland#azores#caldeira

Get ready to climb back into your time machine .. I'm taking you back to the afternoon of November 16th, 2015 to the second half of our Jeep tour with our most knowledgable driver/ guide, Francesco.

After our traditional Portuguese lunch in Santa Cruz, Lagos we travelled to the "Caldeira Velha" a natural monument ... a lush, tropical park.

The main highlight of this island is its thermal lakes and hot springs such as Caldeira Velha, located in the island’s center. It offers the most exclusive bathing opportunity to its visitors.

Can you see the bubbling, steaming water?

After our time at the park, we headed to the town of Ribeira Grande via Santa Barbara ...

Some of the "Happy Cows" ... they live outside all year and the mobile milking machines are bought to them!
Approximately 40% of all the milk in Portugal is produced in the Azores.
In San Miguel there is one cow per person.

Hope you enjoyed this pictorial tour of the island.

It was a full day ... for our dinner tonight we found a quaint, casual "Italian" bistro that had a table for two and was just around the corner from out hotel.

A shared delicious pizza, glass of wine and a sweet dessert was the perfect ending to our day!
