More Memories of Uzes!

The only thing on our to do list while "unwinding in Uzes" was to stop in to say "Hello" to our artist friend, David Jamin and his lovely wife, Severine.

We were warmly greeted by both. We had a quick visit and toured his new works in the gallery.

David has been very busy creating magic with his paint brushes. There are many new colourful pieces.

A favorite of mine is this one ...  I see people sitting at cafés, families strolling in the square "Place aux Herbes" ... see the fountain.
We first met David Jamin in Place aux Herbes last year at the "Art in the Square" and later during our stay we found our perfect souvenir for our 2014 adventure.

What a good "idea" this was to visit Uzes as part our last day of adventure in France.

This year we did not make any major purchases (it was our last day in France and we were already packed) ... we did buy a package of beautifully printed cards of David's paintings.
Here's a couple of the cards ...

Until the next time that we can visit France and Uzes we will have our memories that are rekindled whenever we look at our "souvenir" painting that hangs in our living room.

Life is art, live yours in colour!

Unwinding in Uzes!

Monday, June 8th, 2015 ...

This morning we said our "au revoirs" to our hosts and new friends Martine and Jean-Marie at Le Bariquel in Sarrians ... and we are on the road again, where are we going today?

Typically in our travels this day is wasted as in we are already starting to get in the "Hurry up and Wait" mode!
Our bags are packed for our flights home and we have our carryon bags ready for our overnight stay at the hotel in Toulouse - Blagnac.
We know tomorrow will be a long day and we tend to finish our vacation a day early.

We're ready for takeoff.
Molly our trusted GPS has been programmed with the hotel address in Toulouse and away we go. It was closer to ten when we finally got on the road and we had decided we would just drive with a stop for lunch someplace on the way.
As we were chatting and dreading spending too much time in the hotel room, we decided on an enroute detour to Uzes.
We arrived just before 11 or so, found a shady parking spot and off we went for a trip down memory lane.
We wandered the pretty narrow lanes with our first stop ... Place d'Austerlitz (where we stayed last year) ...
The apartment is the middle two floors above the Hasna Boutique.

Remember the beautiful  "French" shabby chic apartment with the huge windows that let the light spill into the living room.
Here's a couple photos from last year ...

"La Tour Des Rêves" translates to Tower of Dreams it really was dreamy, it had the tower you climbed to a lovely little walled terrace with panoramic views.

From here we made the short "hop, skip and jump" into Place aux Herbes for a café stop strolling by some of our favourite shops. We noticed it was fairly quiet today and then realized it was "Lundi" ...
Monday in France so many of the shops were closed.

We enjoyed our coffee while watching the goings on in the square.
Monsieur Honey quipped his usual philisophical saying ...
"You know even if we weren't here this would all still be happening",
We had no plans or intentions of having a busy day and we're looking to just "unwind in Uzes"!

We only had one thing that we wanted to do while we were in Uzes ... that's another story /post that I will be writing about!

The square was just coming alive ... tables being set up for the lunch time rush under the shade of the plane trees and the umbrellas ...

After our coffee we walked though the arched arcades to the main boulevard for a wander ... and then back into the tiny lanes.

All the Teddy Bears were still hanging around ...

Time for some lunch! Based on a recommendation we tried a new place to us (one we had not discovered last year) and it was an Italian feast in France.

We sat with views of the Church ...

After our delicious shared lunch (Nordic salad piled high with fresh smoked salmon, a delicious pizza and peach Melba) we had one more stroll around town before we headed for Toulouse ...

The Place Auvx Herbes was full of people now enjoying their "dejeuner".

We hope you enjoyed "unwinding" with us in Uzes.

On the road again ... next stop Toulouse.

The "Wine Note" in Sarrians!

#WineNote#Sarrians#FrenchBurger

Back to Centre Ville in Sarrians to the "Wine Note" Bistro/ Restaurant for our Sunday lunch.

Monsieur Honey had been craving a burger for a few weeks now .

The other day when we stopped into the "Wine Note" for a cool drink, the owner Peggy had mentioned that on Sunday the chef would be cooking various types of kebabs on the barbecue grill.

Monsieur asked Peggy if the Chef would make him a burger ... off she went to get Chef Antony to discuss with Msr.

After some chatting and discussion between Chef Antony and Monsieur ...
The Chef said "you are in France and you want to eat a "Hamburger"?
Monsieur said "Mais oui!" ... it was agreed that he would make a special "French Burger" for Msr. Honey on Sunday.

As it was extremely hot and humid today we opted to dine indoors.
The Wine Note does have a wonderful outdoor terrace where you can enjoy dining alfresco.

The Wine Note is decorated with artwork on display for sale by various artists.

The friendly owner / Proprietor Peggy is behind the bar (on the right)...
We even had the opportunity to meet Peggy's two lovely, well mannered young sons, Thimao and Yoni.

The Chef and Monsieur at the grill  ...

The "French Burger" ... different from American/Canadian style probably due to the addition /topping of  aioli and grilled prosciutto.   "Superbe"!
Delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by Monsieur Honey!
Merci Chef Antony for meeting the challenge.

I opted for the Chicken "Brochette" perfectly seasoned/ marinated chicken fork tender ... delicious served with a mustard sauce, the freshest of salads and tasty potatoes ...  and oh yes the roasted tomato with a special breadcrumb topping.

Monsieur Honey has memorized Chef Antony's few tips about the burger and how he made the tomatoes ... so we will be serving these sometime soon!

This was a tasty way to celebrate our last day in Sarrians!

Merci to Peggy and Chef Antony for a memorable "déjeuner"!

And if you find yourself in Sarrians "Why Not" try the "Wine Note"!
