Summer to Fall ...

As the seasons change I find myself longing for a bit more of "Summer"... We spent the first part of Summer in France and Spain this year.

The last of the leaves on our Maple tree ...

I do like the Autumn/Fall in Canada until the time that we must put the furnace on to add some heat to the cooler days and put the lights on earlier to add brightness to the shorter days.

Beautiful container gardening in Lagrasse, France ...

Apéros in the courtyard at Sainte - Hélène chambre d' hôte in Olonzac, France

An afternoon in Bandol, France watching the boats get ready for the regatta ... in the waters of the
Mediterranean

Fresh fruits and produce from the French markets...

Wandering tiny streets in French villages....

Walks high above the Atlantic Ocean in Bidart, France ...

Alfresco lunches under the shade of the beautiful Plane trees ...

Summer foods ... fresh, delicious salads ...

And so much more ... Long walks on the trails and in the parks, play dates with the grandchildren, fun in the water swimming and playing, potluck barbecues, fish frys with family and friends.

Soon we will be heading South for our usual escape and as Msr. Honey says " for us this trip extends the Canadian Summer that we've recently bid farewell!"

                         What is your favourite "Season"?

The Dinner Table

We went to visit friends of friends who lived here in a house that they lovingly rebuilt and restored which was part of the ramparts of the Château de Castlenau-Bretonoux.

Bretonoux is a 12th century walled Bastide town in the Lot Department of France that sits at the foot of the Castle of Castelnau.

Beautiful views below ...

The photos in this post were captured on our very first travels to France in September 2003.

We were wandering the narrow streets and lanes surrounding the Chateau ... it was a Sunday at lunch time ....

How wonderful for everyone to sit and share their meal together at one table.

As our family over the years keeps expanding it is near impossible for this to happen inside our home for holiday celebrations, i.e. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am always trying to find solutions so that we can all be together ... it may be to time rent a hall or go to a restaurant for these events.

Or maybe we should celebrate during the beautiful Summer months, set up continuous tables in a row and we could all sit together to enjoy the delicious foods and camaraderie of family!

I am writing this today as it is Thanksgiving Day in Canada!

Wishing everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving!"

The Frame Up (Couleurs de Mai)

#Cadre#Uzes#CouleursdeMai#Jamin#Artist

After looking at the painting in its natural canvas state for a couple of months, Monsieur Honey and I decided to frame our souvenir painting that we purchased in Uzés, France.

Several shopping expeditions later ... we finally found a frame that seemed to be suitable, however after purchasing it and bringing it home ...we discovered that it was slightly too large.

This resulted in Monsiuer Honey having a play day in his workshop ... sawing, planing and painting to rectify the problem.

The black frame is a perfect addition to David Jamin's wonderful piece of art.

So now we have an "artist in wood" complementing an "artist in oils"!
