Get Happy (Guethappy)

Friday, we checked out some of the local beaches near Bidart and made a stop in the village of Guétharry.

One of the local surfing stores have used a play on words with the village name ... "Get Happy".

Here we found a beautiful park/ terrace with amazing views overlooking the ocean.
It was a sunny and bright day... this afternoon we enjoyed a lazy time around the pool!

Land and Sea

By avoiding the motorway Thursday, our drive took us thru the forests of the Landes to our destination on the West Coast... Basque Country.

We intended to stay in Biarritz but it was crazy busy and decided to drive a bit further south and found our little piece of heaven in Bidart.

Stay tuned for more postcards from the West Coast as we discover and learn about a new area of France with it's fresh sea air and plenty of seafood, different architecture and culture.

This is an example of the typical architecture in the area, so different from the stone buildings in the Lot Valley.

A serving of six "Gambas" the size of "small lobsters"!

Leaving Dégagnac

Our last day found us visiting one of our favourite restaurants in the Lot Valley ...Le Caillau for delicious food, great tasting wine and good company in an amazing setting in the courtyard.

    Spicy Beef Thai Salad

   Asparagus and Proscuitto Crostini

Herb crusted Sea Bass on a bed of new potatoes, beans, fennel and orange segments.

Roast Pork with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes and Chard.

    Welcome to Le Caillau

After lunch we visited a local vineyard  "Château Nozieres".
Later in the day we enjoyed the chilled "Rosé" with nibbles at our "au revoir apéro" hour.
