Our Sunday in Sarrians

It is our last day and night in Sarrians. Tomorrow we start our return journey.

Today in the village center ... "Centre Ville" the streets are barricaded so that the residents can line the streets with tables / displays of all their treasures for the "Vide-Grenier" ...
We spent the morning strolling the streets, checking out what everyone had "emptied from their attics"!

There were 8 of these railings for €300 ... if only it were easy to get them home!
Wouldn't they be a great added feature to the garden?

Okay no more "clowning" around ...

The bargain of the day at only €10 ... a pair of never - worn, colourful leather sandals with the perfect comfortable fit for my not so perfect feet! ... " My new French Trotters "!

Time for a coffee, some people watching at the market ...

Wall art on the school ...

A pretty courtyard ...

Back to the apartment to do a bit of packing before lunch ...

The lavender plants that we've walked by for the past three weeks are beginning to flower ...

Next off to lunch ... at the "Wine Note".

Hurry Up and Wait - Part Two of "Going Home"!

Will we be on time?

Day is getting more wearing!

Our first flight was right on time, even a bit early departing Toulouse.

After landing in Paris we found our way from Terminal 2F to 2E via footsteps, escalators, elevators and a bus to the correct departure "Hall" M which of course trails you through the shopping concourse!

We really didn't have much time or I might have been tempted to shop at one or more of the enticing boutiques ... the likes of Dior, Gucci, Hermes and of course the famous "Ladurée" macaroons!
I really didn't need or want anything! It's just fun to window shop sometimes.

Finally we arrived at our departure gate with only 20 minutes to spare before boarding.

Hurry up, get in line and wait!

The next flight however was delayed ... Boarding was to commence at 13:00 at which time we were herded into the cattle lines, you know the corralled, roped off lines that weave up and down to fit in more people (a personal pet peeve of mine from my banking days.

Then it was like as they say in France a "bouchon" ... traffic jam, the traffic stopped dead.

Then the dreaded announcement "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are sorry we can't welcome you onboard at this time, the plane is still being serviced."

We actually didn't walk onto the ramp until 13:50 /1:50PM on no!
The plane was scheduled to leave at 1:55PM.

It is now 2:25PM ... Waiting for takeoff! ... (I'll have to finish this later)
..............

Finally off we go it's 2:45PM ... Fifty minutes late!

Will the pilot be able to pickup enough speed to make up for the delayed departure?

Now it was time to just wait and see if we'd be on time arriving in Toronto.

Today's flight was long enough for a "Movie Marathon" ... I watched three recent releases and all required Kleenex to dab away my tears of varying emotions at one time or another through the films.

There was "Still Alice" about a linguistics professor diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's.

"The Theory of Everything" the coming of age romantic drama about Stephen Hawking, physicist who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at age 21.

"The Imitation Game" ... the historical thriller about the English mathematician, Alan Turing.

I only managed to catnap for maybe a half hour or so between watching the movies, dinner service and our snack before landing.

Two or three times we could hear the sound of the pilot "putting his foot to the medal" so to speak.

He made up most of the lost time ... Our touch down was only ten minutes late!

Awesome ... customs, baggage pickup and checkin for our Airport Shuttle all good!

Now just please have a seat and "Wait" for your pickup!

We arrived at "Home Sweet Home" just before 8:30 PM (2:30AM France time ... I hadn't changed my watch yet!)

Now to catch up on sleep, recover from the jet lag and we'll be good to go!

p.s. the photos are stock from the Internet.

Going Home!

It's another one of those "Hurry up and wait" days. It's the last leg of our "French" adventure.

We are sitting and waiting in the airport departure area for our boarding call for our first flight from Toulouse to Paris (CDG).

Check in, baggage drop off and security check went smoothly ... so my anxiety about "too heavy" bags, etc. was not called for!

I travelled here without a carry on bag and ended up having to purchase one at one of the "Markets" just to be sure we could bring our souvenirs home; eventhough we did not purchase too much this time.
I think it was the extra space required for our jackets and coats that we wore / carried with us when we left Canada in April.

We are heading back home after our seven week adventure in France which included a couple side trips to Spain!

We leave with mixed emotions as this year's adventure has been wonderful with perfect weather, plenty of mouth watering food  and delicious wine, reuniting with old friends and making new ones and all the different sites and villages, towns and cities that we visited all of which added to a "memorable" Trip.

But I am ready to go home to see and spend time with our children, grandchildren, family and friends!

We still have a few "Postcards" to post that I'll catch up with once recovered from the jet lag and settled in back at "Home"!
