Burrowing to Burgos...

We travelled via many tunnels through the mountains to reach our first stop on route ... arriving in Burgos, Spain late in the afternoon on Sunday.

The countryside is so lush and green.

We checked in to our hotel and hit the streets for a tour of the city, some cool refreshments and tapas.

There were so many photo "postcards" in Burgos and I need to find time to "blog" ... maybe in the car trip to Ourense tomorrow (Tuesday)!

Day One to Santiago!

Today we start our journey to Spain.

We have had one day to pack and then downsize our baggage as the allowance was enforced by our chauffeur, Monsieur Honey!

Let's hope we haven't forgotten anything ... especially our broken in walking shoes and our special socks.

We have two nights planned for Burgos, Spain to break up the travel time.

My walk with Madame M. on part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella begins on Wednesday.

Our support crew ... Monsieur Honey and Monsieur Guy will be available by cell phone with the "Chase car" if we need them ... (We are confident that won't be necessary).

Stay tuned ...

Le Chemin (Uzés)

What a gorgeous day with bright sunshine and blue skies perfect for a walk in Uześ´ countryside.

The "Camino" started out easy on a light gravel path but quickly became very stony actually like huge rocks and narrow straits high above the water and then flat again as we came down walking alongside the river.

A good workout surrounded by beautiful scenery!

We rewarded ourselves with a delicious leisurely lunch at a café in the square.

A melon salad ... The sweetest, juiciest melons ... Lettuce, Proscuitto, tomatoes, apricots ...

And of course something more sweet ... dessert and having Monsieur Honey's company on the walk.
