Carousing in Cahors

This past Wednesday, we finally spent a day in Cahors.

We shopped at the Market, strolled the streets and lanes enjoying the sights.

We viewed some of the Secret Gardens, the flower displays and children playing in the water fountain to cool off on a sunny, hot day. 

Alfresco lunch was enjoyed in the Gambetta Square.

Today's retail therapy included a beautiful 100% cotton tablecloth, and I found a new apron. 

Monsieur Honey purchased a French CD with the music of Henri Salvador.

A tour of Luzech along the Lot River and a stop for a cool drink on the drive back to Dégagnac.

Tuesday's Postcards from Domme and Sarlat.

Domme built in 1280 for Philip the Bold is a most beautiful Bastide, built high on a rocky cliff with a spectacular panoramic view overlooking the Dordogne Valley and river. 

The town is also a delight to visit with it's narrow roads and lane ways.  There are the usual touristy shops selling souvenirs, regional products, etc. interspersed with artists, potters and artisans.

There are three gate entrances through Domme's walls.

                  

                          

Later in the day we travelled to the charming medieval Town of Sarlat where there is lots to see and the best way to do this is on foot. 

You must see the well preserved medieval buildings and Renaissance mansions, and explore the tiny lanes and cobble stoned streets and you never know what you may see or discover around the corner or in an open window.

There is also many cafés, boutiques, wine cellars, and tourist shops.

Sarlat is always busy.

In 1964 the French Government restored old Sarlat and is responsible for promoting and publicizing it as a tourist attraction.

I never tire of visiting Sarlat, I always discover something new.

We checked again to see if "Madame Wisteria" was perhaps looking out onto the world...but she was not to be seen again.

A Sunday Postcard!

Just a quick postcard this Sunday morning.

We've been so busy this week travelling in and around the Lot and Dordogne, and I haven't found time to download and edit my photos and write any posts. 

Hopefully, tomorrow I can catch up before I forget where the postcards were taken.
