Just Another Friday

Some days you just have to do anything to get through the dull, dreary weather....today was one of those days...although we did see more sun than rain today.

Off to town early this morning to restock the wine cellar and food larder.

First stop....a visit with our friendly wine merchant, Msr. Thierry at Le Domaine des Vins.
Some wine and a special treat of chocolate covered nuts.

Second stop...the wonderful decor/gift shop... "Un Certain ... Regard" with our chair measurements in hand to inquire about fabric we had previously seen.
This fabric will be used to have cushions made for the Mission style chair that Monsieur Honey made a few years ago.
After some calculating and discussion, the order was placed and will be delivered in time for our departure.

While there, I in "Grandma mode" strolled through the children's room filled with wonderful stuffed bears and lambs ...to feel a little closer to her wonderful grandchildren back home ... a little homesick today.

Third stop... Drive thru Payrac, Loupiac and the surrounding countryside, here we saw yet another gariotte in the village square of Loupiac...this one I believe was recently built and definitely suitable for a fort or playhouse.

Fourth stop... Lunch at The Promenade

Fifth stop... The Supermarket for some grocery shopping.

Back home for a few hours, hoping the laundry would dry before the next rainfall...

Dinner this evening at La Central in Gourdon with a group of "Belgian Connection" friends ...fun night.

Dame Blanche for Madame M and the poached pear dessert with ice cream and chantilly that I had at lunch means walking will be on the menu tomorrow.

P.S.  we managed to fit in a fast paced walk today (Saturday afternoon).

Conquering Concores

It seems not so long ago that I wrote the post about being lost in the French countryside.

Today, Madame M and I walked together on the "Road to Concores".

We were not lost in direction but sometimes in our own thoughts.

We discussed our mutual goals to some day walk to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, reinforcing the need for more exercise and walking.

With my trusted friend and tour guide I discovered new roads and sights, the subject of today's postcards.
We walked in excess of 14,500 steps, just short of 10 kilometres which took us thru Beauregard and to our final destination of Concores.

Luckily, our Monsieur Guy and Monsieur Honey came looking for us and we did not have to walk back.

Beauregard...Beautiful look / view

Love the mottled colours in the stone walls.

Inside courtyard of a property with a "For Sale" sign hanging on the gate.
Can you imagine what you could do here?

A field of poppies swaying in the breeze.

The fast flowing river.

A private Chateau.

Beautiful blue accented "Maison" ...house.

The Hansel and Gretel cottage.

Whirlwind Wednesday

After being "Night Owls" Tuesday evening at a dinner for ten at our French Connection friends in Prayssac, we awoke Wednesday morning to some lovely views.
"Thank you French Connection for a lovely evening!"

Early morning views over the vineyards in Prayssac from our "French Connection" friends' home.

A visit to other friends in Belaye...a tour of the grounds, including the potager (vegetable garden)of which Mdme. I is quite proud and so she should be...it will provide a bountiful cornucopia of vegetables and herbs.
"Thank you for your hospitality Mdme. I and Msr. A."...the "Dutch Connection".

We were introduced to the new chickens who are receiving much attention and love as they had recently presented their owners with the first "golden eggs"....at least the white and brown hens.

Back home at "Beaucaillou" for a late lunch, followed by some container gardening.

Tonight aperitifs and lively conversation on the terrace at Domaine Gaury...
"thank you Kathleen and Yves."

Back to Dégagnac for dinner... Pizza or reservations at Les Acacias...that's easy, off to dinner at our new friends ... thank you Madame M and Msr. Guy...the "Belgian Connection".

                                                  It was a busy day!
