Return to Dégagnac!

Our week in the Lot Valley was split between our "French Connection" and "Belgian Connection" friends.

Today we went to Dégagnac to visit with Madame M. & Monsiuer Guy for a couple of days.

If you remember, Dégagnac is the small village / home to the cottage "Beaucalliou" that we rented and the setting for our Postcards from the Lot in 2013.

We enjoyed a walk in the wilderness (actually the countryside) amongst the wild flowers and animals.

    Beautiful wild orchid ...

The "Lion King" is still on guard ...

More orchids ... today we did not see any white ones!

   Grazing cattle ...

Non, non Monsiuer Honey that is not my dream house in France ...

Maybe this one ....

At one point I thought we were back on the "Camino"!

A delicious dinner was enjoyed at Les Acacias ...

where Mdme. Clare joined us and provided an interesting starter salad of scallops, coulis of tomatoes and peppers (a Basque recipe that I will have to get).
And Madame M. made her homemade Belgian "frites/ frietens".

Tomorrow ... going to Gourdon and a mystery tour along the Lot River!

May Day (A Postcard from Tournon d'Agenais)

May 1st ... is a holiday in France ... Fête du Travail / Labour Day.

Today it was grey all day with the rain dampening our plans, we "laboured" about what we would do today however we did go looking for some colour and our moods were brightened by the kaleidoscope of colourful flowers on display.

In the 13th Century Bastide of Tournon D'Agenais (a medieval town built on a hill) there was a huge event.
25e Foire aux Fleurs ...thème Les Chapeaux... The 25th Flower Fair was held with an underscoring theme of hats.

We had to park below and take the little train up the hill to where this large event was being held.

Umbrellas were everywhere...

The vendors were creative with their displays incorporating the theme of "Les Chapeaux"...

There was even a hat maker ...

We were entertained by live musicians ...

I want to find this colour Rhodedendrum for my garden ... isn't it just gorgeous?

This Little Piggy went to the Market!

A Market day in the Lot Valley at Monsempren- Libos (Lot et Garonne Dept.)

Our "English" French Connection friends accompanied us to the lively Thursday morning market in Libos.

Here you could find everything you need from beautiful fresh cut Spring flowers for your table, plants for your garden, a bounty of colourful fruits and vegetables, cheeses, wines and oh yes even some "French Trotters" if you like the delicacy of pigs feet!

,

I passed on these ...

We lunched along the river in Penne d'Agenais followed by a riverside walk ...

 .

One more stop at the local fueling station in the vineyards ...

Here our "French Connection" friends blend (mélange) rosé to their taste.

Back to our "French Connections' little piece of heaven overlooking the vineyards & countryside...
a little taste test of the  "Rosé mélange". Delicious!

Merci C & B!
